The Alexandria Citizens Band will be playing at Art on the Avenue this year from 10am to 11am at the courts entrance to the Mt. Vernon Recreation Center field.

The Alexandria Citizens Band is a community organization comprising volunteer members who bring musical entertainment to the City of Alexandria and the DC Metro area. The band was organized in 1912 and is one of the oldest community bands in the country. During the Summer, the band plays for the Friday concert series at Market Square in Old Town Alexandria as well at Fort Ward Park.

About the Festival

Art on the Avenue is a multi-cultural arts festival celebrating our community’s diversity through the arts in the Del Ray neighborhood in Alexandria, Virginia. This festival is held on the first Saturday in October, rain or shine!

Every year, over 50,000 visitors stroll down Mt. Vernon Avenue in Del Ray, Alexandria, between Bellefonte and Hume Avenues – people are greeted by over 300 artists (jewelers – silversmith & beaders, woodworkers, pottery makers, soap crafters, glass makers, unique painters, sculptures, fabric artists), musicians (Irish, folk, rock n’ roll, country and more), and food vendors (hot dogs, BBQ, Indian, crab cakes, chocolate bananas dipped on a stick, home made cider donuts). Kids activities have always been a vital part of the festival — stuff your own scarecrow, paint a pumpkin, lotus flower design, weave screen art, to name a few.
