A Slice of Community, Creativity & Giving

Whether you’re a first-time baker, a pie traditionalist, an adventurous flavor creator, or simply someone who loves a great slice of pie, there’s a place for you at this year’s competition.

All proceeds from pie sales benefit The Miracle League of Alexandria in building a new ‘sensory room’ at Mount Vernon Community School here in Del Ray, Alexandria. 

Event Details

• Date: Saturday, October 3, 2026

• Drop-off Time: 9:30–11:30 AM

• Judging Begins: 12:00 PM

• Winners Announced: Throughout the afternoon on the Festival Main Stage

• Location: In front of The Dairy Godmother, 2310 Mount Vernon Ave, Alexandria, VA 22301

3 Ways to Participate: 

1) Enter the Contest

Bring your best shelf-stable pie (no cream, custard, pumpkin, or meringue) in a disposable 8–10” pie pan to the Pie Booth between 9:30 and 11:00 AM. Choose one of this year’s competition categories and see if your pie earns top honors!

2) Donate a Pie

Not interested in competing? We’d still love your baking! Donate a pie (or other baked good) to help raise funds for a great cause.

3) Enjoy a Slice

Stop by the Pie Booth, grab a slice for $5, and support the The Miracle League of Alexandria while enjoying one of Art on the Avenue’s sweetest traditions.

Contest Categories

• The Classics: Traditional pies executed to perfection. Apple, cherry, peach, pecan, and other timeless favorites.

• Pie-oneering Flavors: Bold, creative, and unexpected flavor combinations that push pie in delicious new directions.

• Most Handsome: Beauty matters! This category celebrates the most visually stunning pie, rewarding exceptional craftsmanship, decoration, and presentation.

• Kids (Under 18): Open to all young bakers under the age of 18. Whether baking independently or with a little help from an adult, this category celebrates the next generation of pie makers.

Want to help make the event a success? Volunteers are needed to:

• Accept pie entries at the booth

• Assist with judging

• Serve and sell pie slices throughout the day

• Hand out pie tins at the Del Ray Farmers Market before the festival
